The Matura Project was created as an initiative by Bourbon Specialty Coffees to value and strengthen women’s leadership in coffee growing. The project has established itself as a space for training, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of specialty coffees produced by women, while also helping more women producers gain a foothold in the specialty coffee market.
How it works
The project includes properties with women in management and/or production (selection and post-harvest), as well as properties registered in the name of women coffee growers. To support them, we offer:
• Post-harvest and fermentation training, respecting each producer’s identity and the unique potential of their coffee.
• Cupping sessions with selected coffees, where they learn to evaluate the quality of their own harvests.
• Lectures and meetings that develop their technical knowledge and expand their market opportunities.
• Specialized technical visits for practical guidance and ongoing monitoring.
• Assistance with microlot selection.
• Dissemination and promotion of your coffees, connecting these stories to new audiences and markets.

Differentiators
Matura was designed to be accessible and inclusive, allowing more women to participate, innovate, and stand out in the specialty coffee market. It creates a collaborative network where producers can share experiences and develop exclusive microlots, gaining greater recognition and visibility.
Future
The project already impacts producers in the Volcanic Region, one of Brazil’s most promising areas, and aims to expand to other regions, broadening the diversity of coffee origins and styles.
Beyond specialty coffees, the Matura Project nurtures transformation, empowerment, and sustainability. Each cup is a testament the strength and sensitivity of women who are building a legacy in the field.
